Updates log
A dated record of new pages, corrections and calculator changes, newest first.
We keep this log so readers can see how the site is maintained. Routine tax-year updates, corrections and new pages are recorded here. If you spot something that needs fixing, please tell us.
16 October 2026
- Calculators: added stricter input checks to the job offer, pay rise, salary inflation and contract calculators. They now reject impossible values, such as 0 working hours, more than 100 holiday days, more than 52 weeks a year or pension contributions over 100%, instead of showing misleading results. All five calculators were re-tested against an independent calculation.
- Rewritten: Stay in your current job or take the new offer? – now covers rights you lose by moving (redundancy, unfair dismissal, enhanced family pay), notice periods, restrictive covenants and counter-offers, including the unfair dismissal change from 1 January 2027.
- Rewritten: Salary vs benefits – now shows how each common workplace benefit is taxed and how to value a package in pounds.
- Rewritten: How to decide if a job offer is worth taking – now focuses on checking the written offer, conditions, contract terms and red flags.
- Rewritten: Is losing holiday days worth a pay rise? – statutory entitlement, irregular-hours rules, holiday pay and a value-per-day table.
- Rewritten: How student loans affect a pay rise – worked examples for every plan.
- Rewritten: Finding a new job after redundancy – practical checklist covering pay, tax, notice-period rights and benefits.
- Edited: How to negotiate salary – removed unsupported claims about how often employers expect negotiation or withdraw offers.
- Correction: Salary sacrifice explained – updated the Statutory Sick Pay rule. Since 6 April 2026, SSP is paid from the first day of sickness and the earnings threshold no longer applies to it.
15 October 2026
- New guide: Salary sacrifice explained, including the £2,000 National Insurance cap on pension salary sacrifice from April 2029.
14 October 2026
- New guide: Scottish Income Tax 2026/27, with a Scotland vs England comparison at every salary level.
- Fix: “Last updated” dates now show the correct date for pages published after the 13 October update.
13 October 2026
- New guide: How often should you get a pay rise in the UK?
- Tax year update: all calculators and guides updated to 2026/27 rates, including student loan thresholds (Plan 1 £26,900, Plan 2 £29,385), the redundancy pay cap (£751 a week) and company car tax for electric cars (4%).
- New calculators: working calculators added to the redundancy pay, pay rise, salary inflation and contract vs permanent pages. Those pages previously had explanations but no working tool.
- Job offer calculator: added Scottish Income Tax, Plan 4 and Postgraduate Loans, your own pension contribution, commute time and the Personal Allowance taper above £100,000.
- Corrections: fixed National Insurance and take-home pay figures in the £25k vs £35k, £30,000 and in-hand salary guides; corrected marginal tax rate and bonus examples in the £40k vs £50k guide.
- Removed: two pages about Indian provident fund schemes (EPF and NPS) that were not relevant to UK readers. The CTC page was rewritten for people comparing overseas offers with UK salaries.
- Site: new terms of use page, working contact form, updated privacy policy, sources listed on every guide, and one consistent web address (ukmoneydaily.com without “www”).
